Thao and I set off from Barcelona to Venice with just seven essential Silk Laundry pieces and a single carry-on. This trip wasn’t just about exploring a new city; it was about embracing the art of travelling light and demonstrating the true versatility of silk. I was committed to our philosophy - a well-curated wardrobe that transitions effortlessly from day to night, regardless of the destination. With just a few select pieces, I moved easily from casual daytime strolls through Venice’s winding streets to intimate dinners by the canal. Silk proved to be the perfect travel companion - its luxurious feel and lightweight nature kept me both chic and comfortable.

DAY 1.

After settling into our hotel, Ca' Vendramin Zago, Thao and I spent the afternoon wandering through Venice’s hidden corners, discovering boutiques and artisan shops brimming with inspiration. One particular highlight was G. Benevento snc Venezia, a textile store filled with old Venetian brocades and haberdashery.

Just across the street, we stumbled upon a shop selling handmade Venetian shoes crafted from those same beautiful brocade fabrics - a testament to the city’s rich craftsmanship.

In the evening, we unwound with a cosy dinner at Bepi Antica 54. With a few simple adjustments - swapping sandals for heels, tying up my hair, and adding some statement jewellery - my 1996 Dress transitioned effortlessly from casual daywear to evening elegance. The Venetian black squid ink pasta was a must-try, and the strawberry panna cotta was simply divine.

DAY 2.

We started the day with a quiet breakfast at a local bakery before exploring the islands of Murano and Burano. Murano’s glass-blowing traditions were fascinating while Burano’s vibrant colours and lace-making heritage provided a stunning backdrop for our silk pieces.

Lunch at Trattoria Al Gatto Nero was a feast for the senses, blending culinary delight with cultural richness. The simplicity of silk felt right at home in such an authentic, vibrant setting.

As evening approached, we strolled through San Marco Square before dining at Trattoria Do Forni. Later, we returned to our hotel for an intimate shoot, capturing the relaxed luxury of Silk Laundry. The pieces embodied the spirit of the trip, aligning with the relaxed and refined style that defines our brand.

DAY 3.

Venice’s art scene is unmatched, and ending our journey at the Biennale was the perfect finale. Surrounded by cutting-edge art, I found fresh inspiration for future collections. Moving through the galleries in my silk attire, I was reminded of the beauty of simplicity.

Leaving Venice was bittersweet, but Thao and I left with more than just memories. We gained a renewed appreciation for the city’s artistic heritage and a deeper love for the versatility of Silk Laundry’s collection. A visit to Museum Fortuny further inspired us, reinforcing our connection to the timeless qualities of silk.

Silk is the ideal travel companion - it adapts to different climates, resists wrinkles, and drapes beautifully. Whether exploring a new city or dressing up for the evening, Silk Laundry pieces strike the perfect balance between style and practicality.

This trip to Venice reaffirmed why silk is at the core of what we do - it’s timeless, versatile, and always relevant.
