The Perfect Pregnancy Dress
Our favourite thing about the slip dress is that it doesn't cinch you in or tie you down. It has no expectations and accepts all sizes. This style highlights the natural shape of a woman, your most powerful asset.
Slip dresses offer movement – growing and shrinking through the natural phases of life – and glossy silk leaves you feeling luxurious, no matter your stage. Expectant mothers can feel confident that our bias cut pieces will allow room through the final days of pregnancy.
Photographer Andrea Jankovic wore a 90s Silk Slip in Big Polka Dot Blush during our recent campaign photoshoot, just a few days before her delivery date.
My 90s slip dresses were what I wore almost exclusively throughout my pregnancy. None of my regular clothes fit past the 10-week mark as my bump was quite big so the dresses became my everyday staple from that moment on.
I wore them everywhere: to shoots, to parties, to all my appointments, walking the dogs... and people would always comment on how great they looked. I honestly credit them with making me look put together, even on the days I was feeling my absolute worst (yay for being pregnant during a Queensland summer).
Even with my giant bump, they fit the entire way through my pregnancy. In fact, I wore my star slip to the hospital and probably would have had my baby in it if they hadn’t made me change into a hospital gown!
Bias cut dresses fall down the body, so they simply drop a little longer when you return to your pre-baby shape. The value of a slip dress lies in its time spent out of your wardrobe, rather than in a dark, reminiscent space towards the back. It nods to years gone by, without losing an important place in your life.
