Reflecting on 2020
Reflecting on 2020
It's been said a thousand times and no doubt this will not be the last time you hear it.
2020 was the most unexpected year.
However, it carries the weight of truth, for my generation anyway.
It will be the year that has changed and shaped many of us like no other, regardless of where you were in the world. A year of change, challenges, lockdowns, loneliness, and most of all, a year that plans would need to be rewritten.
It's my hope that with all the uncertainty 2020 brought, that it has also delivered knowledge, awareness, respect for the planet, and perhaps a small healthy dose of cynicism that leads to curiosity.
With all that 2020 brought, what I have noticed is that important conversations have been amplified this year. Conversations on our planet and how we live and interact with it and with each other. Conversations about equality, community, and ecosystems. Although this is exposing some ugly truths it is also highlighting some human potential.
For me, it is important to head into 2021 with a sense of optimism and gratitude.
Silk Laundry has allowed me to have a voice through fashion and a platform for change. In 2021, I plan to use it more to positively affect our community, by continuing to improve our business's impact and fighting for causes that are dear to us. 2021 will see the roll-out of much of the work that was done in 2020, however, I am also looking forward to the year ahead as another opportunity to be creative and develop our brand's perspective. I am excited to be able to share this journey with you all.
I'm also going to make more time for myself, to read, to listen, to sleep, to drink water, to cook, and to play with my kids.
I'd like to thank you all for your ongoing support, your belief and custom of our brand means the world to me.
To my team, thank you for inspiring me, challenging me and believing in the Silk Laundry vision.
Wishing you all a safe and happy New Year's Eve and a better 2021.
Kindest regards,
Katie
