This International Women’s Day, we’re chatting with a few of the many women that make Silk Laundry possible. Find out how they’re celebrating and what they’ll be wearing for the occasion.
Celebrating Women of Silk
CELEBRATING WOMEN OF SILK
Spotlight on Silk Laundry founder Katie Kolodinski
Have any women inspired/influenced your style, and how?
I've never really looked to anyone to copy, emulate, or be influenced by. I like being a bit more free and fluid and wearing whatever I feel without going to some sort of style source.
Do you have a uniform? What are you always wearing?
Sneakers and a Slip or Bias Cut Pants with a t-shirt and a blazer.
What are your go-to pieces from the uniform collection?
A Slip dress always. Bias Cut Pants and a matching Short Sleeved Boyfriend Shirt.
What's an item every woman should have in their closet?
Only one?? Perhaps a slip dress and maybe a few amazing pairs of seamless knickers!
How are you celebrating International Women’s Day?
I'll be with my kids, hopefully having pasta for dinner in the backyard.

Have any women inspired/influenced your style, and how?
My Mom. She was my first style icon. My appreciation for clothes and style definitely stem from her. She always has this way of putting herself together that makes her stand out. It’s not just the clothes she wears and how she wears them, but the way she carries herself. My Mom keeps her head up and I do my best to follow her example.
Do you have a uniform? What are you always wearing?
Nope. I dress how I feel. Jeans, sneakers, and a vintage tee or button up shirt are my go to's, though. Always in combination with some Silk Laundry of course.
What are your go-to pieces from the uniform collection?
The Ribbed T-shirt in the summer, Ribbed Turtleneck in the winter and the Short Sleeved and Long Sleeved Boyfriend shirts (I love to layer).
What's an item every woman should have in their closet?
A good basic tank top, T-shirt, turtleneck and a reliable cardigan.
How are you celebrating International Women’s Day?
The same way I approach everyday, with the hope that I will be better that day than the day before. I’ll also probably message some of the special women in my life to let them know I appreciate them.

Have any women inspired/influenced your style, and how?
Not one key person in particular, it’s more of a collective effort. I really love seeing how all kinds of women create their own style and try new trends, it’s a constant source of inspiration for me.
Do you have a uniform? What are you always wearing?
Right now anything in French Flowers has my heart. I love a floral print. Second to that, I opt for comfort which looks like silk-linen tailored pants with a ribbed silk t-shirt.
What are your go-to pieces from the uniform collection?
The Ribbed Turtleneck, Bias Cut Pants, and the Short Sleeve Boyfriend Shirt. I could go on, but I’ll leave it at three.
What's an item every woman should have in their closet?
I mean, it’s got to be the 90s Slip Dress. You’ll wear it forever.
How are you celebrating International Women’s Day?
I’d love to say something inspiring but I’ll just be hanging out with my two boys. Which is pretty special and important in itself, in time they’ll be celebrating this day alongside all the really cool, inspiring, progressive women that sew into their lives.

Have any women inspired/influenced your style, and how?
I have always looked to my grandmother for style inspiration. She has always been and still is such a style icon.
Do you have a uniform? What are you always wearing?
Black strappy sandals or boots paired with a silk dress or a pair of high-rise jeans with a cami or boyfriend shirt.
What are your go-to pieces from the uniform collection?
Bias Cut Pants Black, all the ribbed pieces, especially the T-shirt and a classic 90s slip, always.
What's an item every woman should have in their closet?
A great pair of jeans, a classic black dress, and an oversized button-down top.
How are you celebrating International Women’s Day?
Yoga in the evening ... always feels empowering. Followed by a homemade meal enjoyed with my partner.
